We are a coalition of humanitarian, religious, and non-profit organizations working together to create welcoming communities for refugees. In response to the increased attention around the Syrian refugee crisis in particular and the recent increase in hateful, anti-refugee political rhetoric, we created this initiative, bringing together diverse allies to show that communities, businesses, faith communities, and political leaders across the United States are ready to welcome all refugees, regardless of their country of origin, religion, or ethnic group.
Why Take Action Now?
There are currently 60 million refugees worldwide. These are men, women, and children who have been forced to flee their homes due to persecution based on who they are – their race, nationality, religion, political opinion or membership in a particular social group. As the world faces the largest refugee crisis since the end of World War II, it is more important than ever that communities around the world open their hearts and doors to refugees seeking safety and a chance to rebuild their lives.
